Harrow welcomes back Ontario’s RAM Rodeo, Eastern Canada’s premier rodeo tour, featuring bronc riding, steer wrestling, barrel racing, pole bending, roping events, trick riding, and the ever popular extreme sport of bull riding. The 2013 RAM Rodeo Tour will offer the largest prize money for cowboys/girls competing on any Ontario circuit. “The Ram Rodeo Tour attracts many U.S. competitors who love the Harrow location at Cidermill Farms.” says Ross Miller, Producer of the Ram Rodeo Tour, “It’s a fabulous weekend for competitors and their families. It’s quickly becoming a favorite on the Ontario circuit. Harrow really rolls out the welcome mat for everyone. It’s a great weekend and a great party with something for everyone: equestrian competition, rodeo, pony rides, parades, and live music. I was just blown away by the talent on the music stage in 2012.”

Fridays welcome Party features the finalists of the Country 95.9/92.7 “Hoedown Showdown”, a country artist talent search. Saturday night is party night at the farm, local legend Jody Raffoul and introducing Jack Connelly with the Gas Station Cowboys as well as the winners of the Country 95.9/92.7 “Hoedown Showdown”.

Returning to the festival is the Hunter Team Challenge which benefits the Breast Cancer Society of Canada. The Challenge has raised over $10,000.00 for its cause in the past two years. The Ram Equestrian Jumper will feature speed rounds, a derby-cross, a double slalom race, and a “Woof and Hoof” Relay will combine rodeo and equestrian riders, equines and canines in teams in a fast pace race for top honours.

Sunday, June 30th is family day beginning with the “Horses for Hospice Parade”. Riders, carriages, hobby horses and supporters on their floats will parade through Harrow to the Rock ‘N Horse Fest. Hospice is planning to expand the Hospice Village into the Leamington area. All funds raised through the Parade will support this new initiative. The whole of Essex County is encouraged to participate in this community event, which works like a walk-a-thon, but with horses. All four-legged walkers on hoofs are welcomed as well as horse-themed floats, people in costumes, hobby horse riders, and marching bands. Join in the Parade and raise money for this important cause. “If you can’t be in the parade, be sure to sponsor someone who is” says Marilyn McLean, parade organizer.

It’s Time- Spruce Meadows joins with Aachen, Geneva and Rolex

(GOTHENBURG, Sweden): Spruce Meadows announced today that it will join with two other iconic venues in the sport and create the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping. Using the occasion of the FEI Rolex World Cup Final in Gothenburg, Sweden, representatives from the 3 world-leading venues joined with Rolex to announce and unveil the exciting new concept for international show jumping.

The Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping continues a decades-long tradition of Rolex to associate itself with some the world’s most iconic sporting venues and events; these include the likes of Wimbledon, Augusta, the Open Championship, Formula One and now Spruce Meadows and the Rolex Grand Slam.

“Spruce Meadows is honoured and excited to have this opportunity,” said Spruce Meadows President, Linda Southern Heathcott from the announcement in Sweden. “Our association with Rolex spans more than 2 decades and now to be able to work with such storied venues as CHIO Aachen and CHI Geneva in creating the Rolex Grand Slam introduces an exciting and unique concept to our sport.”

“This has been a fantastic exercise in innovation and cooperation, while also respecting the histories and traditions of each of our events.”

The Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping will commence in 2013 with the Spruce Meadows ‘Masters’ hosting the second leg in September. The Rolex Grand Slam consists of the long established Grand Prix events at each of the three tournaments. Any rider who wins multiple events during the cycle is eligible for significant bonus money in addition to the championship purses being offered at each of the individual Grand Prix events.

For further information related to the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping please reference the official Rolex Grand Slam Press Kit, visit www.rolexgrandslam.com, or visit the Rolex Grand Slam video preview.

For a complete tournament schedule, visit the Spruce Meadows website at www.sprucemeadows.com.

If you have any questions, please call Spruce Meadows Media 403-974-4232 or email katie.macleod@sprucemeadows.com.
