It is hard to believe that our show season has come to an end. Big Creek, Rusty Gaits and GREAT still have one more show each in September. Willow Creek Riding Stable Inc. is having a ride for Cancer on Saturday, October 8th at their place, 564581 Karn Road, Beachville, Ontario N0J 1A0. More details to come. In November we start having the year end banquets, ours is Saturday, November 5th at the CAW hall in Ingersoll.
YOUTH
The winner of the Black and Decker food processor at our August5 6th show was Carol Carter and at our last show on August 20th, Doug Burke was the winner of the 50/50 draw for $61.50. Our youth placed second at the youth team tournament with 88 points. There were 13 clubs with a total of 20 teams. Rusty Gaits placed first with 152 points, Oxford Trail Riders gold team placed second with 88 points, Big Creek Saddle Club red team placed third with 72 points, Norfolk Horse Club placed fourth with 72 points, Milverton Horse Club placed fifth with 40 points, and Tottenham Equestrian Club placed sixth with 35 points. We sent one and a half teams consisting of the following youth. The gold team was Alex Cross-Nichols, Tyler Crestman, Sarah Dow (2 horses), Ange Taras, Josh McLeod (2horses), Erin Cross-Nichols, Maegan Debois, Marissa Montgomery, Amber McLeod and Cole Hughes. The black team was Nikki Chesterman, Ryyan Losee-Yates, Marissa Montgomery, Stephanie Grinton and Megan Burke. Horse of the Child Trophy donated by Kalenna Smith was won by Rusty Gaits Saddle Club Horse – New Freckles. The Championship Trophy was won by the Rusty Gaits Saddle Club. High Point Western Performance Grand was won by Breanna Berencsi on Mr. Cobra Bubbles of the Big Creek Saddle Club and Reserve was won by Nicole McComb on One Last Fantasy of the Rusty Gaits Saddle Club. High Point English Performance Grand was won by Breanna Berencsi on Mr. Cobra Bubbles of the Big Creek Saddle Club and Reserve was won by Sarah Dow on DDS Low Rider of the Oxford Trail Riders. High Point Games Grand was won by Jessie Brock on Dakota of the Rusty Gaits Saddle Club and Reserve was won by Katie Hubert on Skips A Lady of the Rambling Hills Riding Club.
The youth are still collecting pop cans as a fundraiser. If you can help them out by saving your pop cans and letting John McHardy (519-537-7179) know you have them, so pick up can be arranged. I am sure they will appreciate it.
FUNDRAISERS
There are still T-shirts ($10.00) small sizes only, and pins ($3.00) available forsale. Please contact any of the directors if you would like to purchase one for yourself or if you know of anyone interested in purchasing one.
SPONSORSHIPS & DONATIONS
- We are looking for sponsors to help keep our club going for the 2011 season. If you know of any business or other person who may be interested in sponsoring the Oxford Trail Riders, please see one of the executive for a sponsor form. We need a sponsorship for 39 classes ($60) and for 6 High Point Awards ($120). We have 29 classes sponsors and 5 high point sponsors at this time. For those of you who would like to either sponsor a class, 1/2 class or make a donation to our operating expenses, we sincerely thank you for helping to keep the Oxford Trail Riders, the club it is today.
SHOW DATES
Oxford Trail Riders – We have finished our show dates until next year. Hope to see you at our banquet on Saturday. November 5th at the CAW Hall in Ingersoll.
Big Creek Saddle Club – Sunday, September 11th. Shows start at 9 am, are held at the Paris fairgrounds. Their banquet is on Saturday, 19th at the Paris Ag. Hall.
Rusty Gaits – Sunday, September 18th. Shows start at 9:30 am at the Aylmer fairgrounds.
G.R.E.A.T. – Sunday, September 11th. Rain date is Saturday, September 17th. Start time is 9 am, at Bell Mill Road, just south of Hwy 3 outside of Tillsonburg. Website is www.goshenridge.com
COMING EVENTS
The Dereham District Lions will be having a chicken BBQ dinner on September 11th from 5 pm – 7pm at the Mt. Elgin Community Centre. Prices are ½ dinner – $13.00 and ¼ dinner – $11.00.
The 4th Annual Ontario Saddle Club Championship hosted by the Rusty Gaits Saddle Club is on Saturday, September 24th. New this year are prizes for individuals and overall teams. Nelson Bilyea’s horse sale is on Friday, October 14th and Saturday, October 15th at the Ilderton Community Centre.
The Dereham Lions will be having a turkey dinner on Thursday, October 27th from 5 pm – 7pm at the Mt. Elgin Community Centre. For tickets call Max Albright at 519-485-0418.
The Oxford Trail Riders’ banquet is Saturday, November 5th at the CAW Hall in Ingersoll.
The Royal Winter Fair runs from November 4 – 13.
