The OTR trail ride will be on Sunday, October 3rd at the Jones’ farm, 432560 Zenda Line, Tillsonburg, Ontario. The ride will start at 11 a.m. with dinner at 4 p.m. Tickets are 11 – 99 $12.00, 5 – 10 years $6.00 and four and under are free. Non members will pay the same as above; plus a Day Pass fee of $5.00 if going on the trail ride. There will also be a poker run at a cost of $5.00. The meal will consist of roast beef, baked potatoes, coleslaw and buns. Please remember to bring a potluck dessert and chairs.
Rusty Gaits’fall trail ride is Sunday, October 17th at North Oak Farm, the home of Murray and Donna McEown, on Eden Line, a bit west of Culloden Road, Alymer area. Here are the particulars: Start time is 11 to noon, and enjoy a 2.5 to 3 hour ride on marked trails around fields, through forested areas and tackle some challenging hills. (And my opinion only, some may disagree.) Editor’s Note: this is indeed a somewhat challenging ride and reasonably experienced riders and/or horses will no doubt enjoy the experience. Breast collars are a necessity.
Time to dine: about 3:30 p.m. approximately.
Cost: $5.00 to ride, $5.00 to eat (and bring a dish for the community table), $5.00 day pass for non RGSC members. Bring a portable table if available, lawn chair, plates and cutlery and your beverage of choice. Should you forget, we will have disposables as well, just trying to be ‘environmentally friendly’. A serving utensil for your dish is always a thoughtful touch. Not everyone has a slotted spoon or extra ladle handy as evidence at a recent potluck where one of my 2 serving spoons was liberated by another’s dish. For more info call Mary @ 773-5752.
