If anyone has news, good or bad, or upcoming events, that you would like to share with the rest of the club, please e-mail me at oxfordtrailriders@yahoo.ca or 519-424-2675.

Check out www.londonhorsesport.com ; this website has connections to many of the other clubs, upcoming events and other equine related disciplines.

Remember if you use any of the services offered by our sponsors; to thank them for sponsoring the Oxford Trail Riders.

We managed to get our second show in with the weather cooperating. The numbers were down from the first show, but I think everyone still enjoyed themselves. Our third show was cancelled after the weather took a turn for the worse. We did manage to get the first half of the show in and the senior trail class. We will see if we can get a judge to judge the second half of one of our up coming shows.

ATTENTION- The english riders in the jumping classes will have a practice jump set up in the indoor arena so that you can take the opportunity to have your practice jump before the jumping classes start. However there are a couple of rules to follow per Marg and Max Albright. Whoever sets up the jumps must take them down and put them away. Manure is to be cleaned up, a wheelbarrow and pitchfork are available and any garbage picked up. If the clean up is not done, you will lose the use of the indoor arena.

YOUTH

The youth had five separate draws at the June show for two sets of dog food and treats, a beauty basket, a calming package and a bird feeder. The winners are Lorna Rutherford – a set of dog food and treats, Jennie Bathgate – a set of dog food and treats, John McHardy – a beauty basket, Kari Reiter – a calming package and Sue Zimmer – a bird feeder. Thank you to all who supported our youth, they made $86.00. The youth had five draws at the July 11th show for dog food and treats, three winners were Nikki Chesterman’s mom, Sandra Aucoin, and John McHardy. I don’t know who the other two winners were. The kids are trying to raise money to pay for their stalls at the Youth Team which is Saturday, July 31st and Sunday, August 1st.

The youth are having a raffle on two clocks, one with a western rider and the other an english rider. These clocks were made by one of the youth, Maegan Nagy. The tickets are one for $2.00 and three for $5.00. The winning tickets will be drawn at the banquet on Saturday, November 6th. The youth are still collecting pop cans as a fundraiser.  If you can help them out by saving your pop cans and letting John McHardy (519-537-7179) know you have them, so pick up can be arranged. I am sure they will appreciate it.

The Albrights have offered the use of the indoor arena for $10.00 per horse and rider or the outdoor arena free of charge if you would like to work your horse. Please call before you come out. 519-485-0418.

SPONSORSHIPS & DONATIONS – We are looking for sponsors to help keep our club going for the 2010 season. If you know of any business or other person who may be interested in sponsoring the Oxford Trail Riders, please see one of the executive for a sponsor form.  We need a sponsorship for 38 classes ($60) and for 6 High Point Awards ($120).  For those of you who would like to either sponsor a class, 1/2 class or make a donation to our operating expenses, we sincerely thank you for helping to keep the Oxford Trail Riders, the club it is today. At the moment we have 4 high point sponsors and 14 regular sponsors, so we still need 2 high point sponsors and 24 regular class sponsors.

I would also like to remind you at this time, that we welcome club show members to come out and use a “free day pass” to try out the nbha.  We have senior classes for 50 and over, youth classes, and of course the open classes that they can compete in.  Let your members know about the Western Fair, where we have two fun days of speed competition, everything from barrels to poles, dash, keyhole and texas speed events.   That show is hosted by NBHA but is open to everyone, and we would sure like to see some of your members there having fun.

If you need any more info, please let me know.
